How Singer Island Became a Top Place to Live

Posted by Meike MacGregor on Friday, September 17th, 2021 at 10:42am.

You may know about Palm Beach County, Florida, and some of its most widely-known cities like Boca Raton, Palm Beach, and Jupiter. All beautiful, for sure! But when it comes to exceptional gems, you should get to know my home base and where I’ve worked for the last 24 years—the incomparable Singer Island.

Singer Island is named for Paris Eugene Singer, the famous Palm Beach developer and son of Isaac Singer, the sewing machine magnate. In the 1950’s Palm Beach County enjoyed tremendous growth, and Singer Island evolved into a resort area of hotels and condominiums. In 1952, Phil Foster Park was opened, named after one of Riviera Beach’s pioneer citizens.

When I was a teen, Singer Island had a few homes, but it was mostly the place where my friends and I could grab lobsters from the rocks on the beach. Boy, have times changed! In 1976, to accommodate this growth and ease the access to the island, the two-lane draw bridge was replaced with the current four-lane Blue Heron Bridge. It’s a spectacular sight driving east over the Blue Heron Bridge onto Singer Island with the deep-blue Atlantic Ocean straight ahead.

Today, Singer Island is ranked as one of the top beaches in Palm Beach County, and its year-round population is approximately 28,000 people.

Beautiful weather for an outdoor lifestyle

Singer Island is a peninsula on the Atlantic coast of Palm Beach County and is surrounded by water on all sides, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west. Our beautiful warm waters make it the perfect place for year-round swimming, snorkeling, paddling, kayaking, surfing, and boating.

The fishing is plentiful here too. Not only do you have several professional charters, the county’s public parks system includes several dozen choices for freshwater or saltwater fishing from a shore location or a pier.

Enjoy snorkeling? Ocean Reef Park sits on Singer Island. Its beach is well-known for having first-rate water conditions, so the snorkeling is excellent. A little further up on A1A, exploring John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is a must.

How about golf? (Yes, please!) The Preserve at Ironhorse is a Singer Island Golf Course surrounded by a serene nature preserve. And if you take a short drive north towards Jupiter or south toward West Palm Beach, you have dozens of public and private courses—all of which provide world-class golfing.

Beach, beach, and more beach!

When you want to live at the beach, how close would you like to be? How about, directly on the sand-close? When you see one of my listings described as a "condo on the sand" or, "directly on the sand," that’s not an embellishment! Because Singer Island is surrounded by water you will be, quite literally, right on the beach no matter which building you choose.

What's your next chapter?

Maybe you’re ready for the full-time South Florida lifestyle of sun and fun?

Or perhaps snowbirding suits you, fly down for a few months.

Either way, the Singer Island condo lifestyle includes a range of luxury amenities and puts you within reach of incredible outdoor experiences.
