New West Palm Beach Tower Faces Opposition Regarding Height

Posted by Meike MacGregor on Saturday, August 17th, 2019 at 2:08pm.

A proposed high-rise project to be located at 3907 S. Flagler Drive has received an initial approval to move forward, however many residents are objecting to the project’s height and location. The property would stretch from South Flagler to the east over to Washington Road on the west side.

The proposal for an 11-story building to be built on two lots, which together total less than an acre in cumulative size. Current zoning codes would require a development of this size to be built on a lot anywhere from 2-10 acres in size.

Residents are claiming because of the smaller size that the building will be too close to existing properties, which would limit privacy, block skylines, and create population and parking issues.

Although the project has gotten approval, it appears City commissioners and officials are listening intently to all of the concerns brought forward. City commissioners will schedule a final vote in the coming weeks and have advised the developer to adjust their design to consider the West Palm Beach resident’s concerns before that final vote in tabulated.
