The report states that as of April 2018, a record high, nearly 64 million American citizens are living in a household with 2 or more generations of family members. The number translates to about 20% or 1/5 homes in the United States that now live in a multigenerational household.

The last time that housing figure reached 20% was back in 1950. Three decades later in 1980 the number has dropped to 12% of homes.
